Companies representing the European boardsports industry will be flying the flag for International Surfing Day on Sunday, June 19th at the iconic, world-renowned .Managers, directors and employees from leading surf brands, along with friends and family, will stage a variety of exciting activities on the day including:

- An inter-company surf ‘tag-team’ competition (a team relay competition) at a surf spot between Seignosse and Hossegor.
- Surf Beach Party – table football, beach volleyball competition, barbecues and prize draws.

It will be a convivial day full of team spirit, community and celebration. The public will be able to meet representatives & riders from leading European boardsports brands and witness them taking to the water.

This unique event is being organised by Hossegor Surf Club in partnership with Rock Food, MC Box Event, the French Surf Federation and EuroSIMA.

Surfers Against Sewage (www.sas.org.uk) and the Surfrider Foundation Europe (http://www.surfrider.eu) will be delivering activities on the protection of the marine environment, from beach cleans to educating the public on pollution issues affecting oceans worldwide. Surfers Against Sewage will lead actions in the UK, with the Surfrider Foundation Europe covering environmental activities across mainland Europe and internationally.
SAS will be staging a Motivocean Trash Mob, a mass-participation beach clean event to demonstrate how much many people can achieve in a little time. SAS will be encouraging everyone to collect a few pieces of rubbish from around them to keep the beach free of unwanted marine litter.
SAS & SFE will be encouraging their members across their respective territories to organize events to celebrate surfing and the protection of the coastal environment. Get ready to participate in the environmental QUIZ of SFE soon on line.

Os registros já estão abertos a partir de agora e os organizadores estão preparando com cuidado esta operação a fim de garantir um feliz dia nas emoções e cheio de momentos inesquecíveis. As iniciações livres, empréstimos dos equipamentos, free surf, programas demonstrativos, limpezas da praia, shows e festas, comemorar surfando como um esporte e uma cultura que vale a pena.

Cada ano, um artista é selecionado representar o International Surfing Day - ISD. Para a 8a edição, Tom Veiga ilustra este evento com da “espírito do surf”. The 7th edition of the International Surfing Day was a real success and the 8th edition is off to a good start. The EuroSIMA is eager to thank everyone who was involved. Thanks to them, this open day became in few year of the world reference event of the boardsports promoting and celebrating surfing and its culture with free activities to general public.

The year before, about 1 500 activities on 45 countries and territories with almost 62 000 involved people participated in this special day dedicated to the surf. About 550 organizers were present and celebrate surfing with free activities to general public: BBQ, competition, initiation, equipment testing, concerts, parties, environmental awareness actions...

The EuroSIMA, European Surf Industry Manufacturers, is pleased to announce the 8th edition of the International Surfing Day which will take place on Sunday, June 19, 2011, on the worldwide waves and beaches.

This free day open to all will be the occasion to make discover and share the values of surf culture.

Spring has happily taken up residence in Europe, and all members of the big family of surfing have ants in one’s pants!

Traditionally, for the last 8 years, the ISD occurs a Sunday, the closest one of summer solstice, to enable as many people to share with family and friends, this very special day. This year, the INTERNATIONAL SURFING DAY will take place on Sunday, June 19, in opening of the summer season on all coasts of Europe. Nevertheless, the USA invites the international organizers (without Europe) to celebrate the ISD on the solstice day, June 20.
The 2011 edition is thus 2 times more reasons to celebrate surfing on the worldwide waves and beaches!
